Hi, we’re Lora-Lea Francoeur and Christopher Schwarzl — the people behind Von Schwarzl Rottweilers.
​
We are a family-owned kennel located in Sherwood Park, Alberta. The Rottweiler breed has held a special place in our hearts for many years, and our commitment to these incredible dogs began long before we were fortunate enough to welcome our foundation female home. What started as admiration has grown into a lifelong passion — one that continues to shape everything we do.
​
My love for Rottweilers began back in the early 1990s. There was something about their intelligence, loyalty and strength that immediately captured my heart. In the mid '90s, I brought my very first Rottweiler home and from that day on, my passion for this incredible breed has only grown deeper. For decades, I dreamed of building a small kennel, and that dream started to come to life for Chris and I around four years ago when we were fortunate enough to welcome Indy, Jersey and Ace into our home.
Our dedication to the breed has only deepened with time, and it drives our mission to breed Rottweilers that are true to the breed standard, well-tempered and healthy. At Von Schwarzl, we believe in preserving the integrity of the Rottweiler through responsible, thoughtful breeding, with the ultimate goal of producing companions and working dogs we’re proud to stand behind.
We are especially grateful and proud to have Jersey as our foundation female — her structure, temperament and drive have set the tone for everything we aim to produce at Von Schwarzl.

Top-Quality Breeding
The Rottweiler is a strong, powerful and confident breed, known for its loyalty, intelligence and biddable nature. They are a robust, muscular dog with a balanced and powerful structure. Their noble expression, alertness and calm demeanor are key characteristics, and they are known for their loyal attachment to their families.
At Von Schwarzl, we are devoted to breeding Rottweilers that reflect these ideals — with correct conformation, balanced temperament and strong working ability. We focus on breeding dogs that are true to the Rottweiler's unique characteristics and inherent qualities.
Socialization Emphasis
At Von Schwarzl, we understand that a Rottweiler's temperament is deeply shaped by early experiences and proper socialization. From the moment our puppies are born, they are raised in a nurturing environment where they are exposed to a variety of sights, sounds and experiences. We make sure our puppies are gently introduced to children, adults, other dogs and different environments, helping them build the confidence they need to be well-adjusted, well-behaved companions. This early socialization helps foster the calm, confident demeanor that Rottweilers are known for and ensures they are comfortable in all kinds of situations, making them excellent pets and reliable working dogs. We aim to give each puppy the best possible foundation for a lifetime of success.
Health and Wellness
We take the health and well-being of our Rottweilers very seriously, and it’s a priority for us to breed only the healthiest dogs possible. Our breeding program incorporates a wide range of health testing through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), which covers key health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, heart health, Juvenile Laryngeal Paralysis and Polyneuropathy (JLPP) and others. We believe in transparency, so all health testing results are available for prospective puppy buyers to review.
